Solid waste management is a pressing global concern driven by urbanization, industrialization, and population growth. The judiciary plays a vital role in shaping effective solid waste management practices through policy direction, enforcement, and public awareness. This paper explores judicial trends in solid waste management by examining landmark cases and judicial pronouncements across various jurisdictions. Key cases, such as Almitra H. Patel vs. Union of India in India, City of Chicago v. Environmental Defense Fund in the United States, and European Commission vs. Italy, demonstrate the judiciary's impact on waste management policies and practices. Judicial principles like sustainable development and the polluter pays principle have been emphasized to ensure long-term environmental sustainability. Despite significant judicial interventions, challenges such as implementation issues, judicial overreach, and consistency in rulings persist. This paper highlights the critical role of judicial decisions in driving policy reforms, enforcement, and public advocacy in solid waste management, providing insights for future policy development and judicial action.

The study was conducted to examine the impact of students' use of social media sites on their academic performance. On the basis of random sampling, a sample of (n=130) undergraduate students were selected. Questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The entire questionnaire received back from respondents on which descriptive statistics apply for data analysis. The study revealed that majority of the respondents in Moradabad had mobile phones with internet facility and had knowledge of the existence of social media sites. As a result, 41.53% respondents visit their social media sites and spend between one to seven hours every day. In addition, the study revealed that the use of social media had affected academic performance of the respondents negatively and further confirmed that there was a strong positive relationship between the use of social media and academic performance. So, there is an urgent need for the introduction of students to the availability of other information resources or materials that can help them academically. Students should be encouraged to limit the time they spend on their social media sites per day and advise them to rather substitute those hours to read other informative sources to improve their knowledge.

The gig economy has experienced remarkable growth in India over the past decade, propelled by several key factors like widespread availability of mobile devices with internet connectivity facilitating last-mile access for platform workers to connect with customers. The proliferation of app-based technologies in the past five years has further accelerated this growth trajectory. India's booming gig economy is drawing millennials, including women, with its promise of alternative employment avenues. For women workers, the gig economy holds particular significance as digital platforms are seen as potential vehicles for increasing their participation in the labor market. India has long grappled with the issue of low and declining female labor force participation, with rates among the lowest in South Asia. Against this backdrop, the rapid expansion of India's gig economy could help alleviate some of the barriers women face by offering flexibility to balance care obligations while engaging in work. Despite the increasing participation of women in the gig economy, many of the available jobs remain concentrated in traditionally female-dominated and low-wage sectors such as domestic work, caregiving, beauty, and wellness. Gig work presents a multitude of challenges for women, including limited access to the digital economy and concerns regarding security and safety, which hinder their full engagement in this sector. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensure that women can fully benefit from and contribute to the opportunities presented by the gig economy.

Abstract: This review article has focused on a very serious social psychological phenomenon called 'Elder abuse'. Elder abuse is a global public health and human rights problem which is conceptualized as a single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. This kind of mistreatment generates unpleasant feelings or emotions that adversely impact the level of cognitive functioning, physical and psychological health of aging people. Evidence suggests that elder abuse is prevalent, predictable, costly, and sometimes fatal. The main objective of article is to highlight the global epidemiology of elder abuse in terms of its prevalence, risk factors, and consequences on elder population. This article also identifies important knowledge gaps, such as lack of consistency in definitions of elder abuse; insufficient research with regard to screening; etiological factors, impacts and prevention researches. Moreover, future implications and research directions are also discussed.
