This thesis analyses a selection of Shaw's female characters to reflect on women's roles and expectations within Shaw's contemporaneous Britain, and within modern Kurdish society. Employing interdisciplinary methodologies (close literary readings, sociological analysis, cultural studies theory, comparative literature approaches, historiographical research), the thesis demonstrates that an interpretation of Shaw's work from a feminist perspective needs updating for the 21st century. Moreover, perhaps, for the first time, the thesis reveals how Shaw's representations of femininity and feminism are extremely pertinent to Kurdish social/gender constructs. Consequently, this thesis provides original insights, which engage with the contemporary moment. The main-body of the thesis is arranged into three sections, which focus on three of Shaw's plays: Pygmalion (1912), Mrs. Warren's Profession (1893) and Saint Joan (1923). It identifies three different female "types" within the three plays, respectively: the aspirational young woman; the matriarch; the female 'warrior' figure, and argues that these feminine "types" are also prominent in Kurdish socio-cultural contexts. Correlatively, the thesis argues that when experiencing the plays from a Kurdish viewpoint, there is a dual-level of interpretation: not only do Shaw's characters evoke the stories and experiences of inspirational Kurdish women; a knowledge of these Kurdish women and their narratives, imbue Shaw's plays with layers of significance and connotations which would be absent from a British person's interpretations of the play. From this basis, the thesis elicits the similarities and differences between Western and Kurdish concepts of femininity and feminism.

This research investigates the interplay between corporate legal reforms, competition, and theevolving marketing landscape in India. Since the enactment of the Companies Act of 2013, the Indian corporate sector has undergone a significant transformation aimed at enhancingtransparency, accountability, and governance. The study examines the impact of these reforms on competitive dynamics within the market. Additionally, it delves into the imperative for legal reform in the contemporary marketing scenario characterized by digital disruption and ethical challenges. By analyzing the relationship between law and marketing, the research seeks to identify opportunities and constraints for fostering a fair, transparent, and sustainable marketplace. The study emphasizes the need for a proactive approach to legal reform that balances innovation with consumer protection and societal interests. Ultimately, it aims to contribute to the development of a regulatory framework that supports a competitive and ethical marketing ecosystem in India.

The stability of sheet pile structures is a critical consideration in geotechnical engineering, particularly when employed in cohesive soils. This study presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of sheet pile stability in cohesive soil under varying retaining wall lengths. The objective is to assess the influence of retaining wall length on the overall stability of sheet piles. The research methodology involves numerical simulations and analytical modelling using advanced geotechnical software and established engineering principles. A range of retaining wall lengths is considered to systematically evaluate their impact on the stability of sheet piles within cohesive soil profiles. Factors such as lateral earth pressure distribution, shear strength parameters, and deformation characteristics are incorporated into the analysis to provide a holistic understanding of the system behavior. This research is of practical significance for geotechnical engineers, designers, and practitioners involved in the planning and execution of projects requiring sheet pile structures in cohesive soil environments. The outcomes of this study can inform engineering practices, providing a basis for improved design guidelines and facilitating the development of more reliable and efficient solutions for retaining structures in similar geotechnical contexts.
