The study is predicated on functionalist theoretical frame work to examine the origin and objectives of the United Nations and the contemporary challenges of war, conflicts, genocide etc. in the world. The study employs the methodology of documentary analysis to argue that despite some of its achievements, the UN failed to provide the necessary peace and security that will ensure levelled playing field in world politics and sustainable development among nations. The study among other recommendations suggests the strong need for total reform of the UN in order to gain the trust of its member nations.

This research paper investigates consumer attitudes towards Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRTS) networks in Ahmedabad, India, employing factor analysis and discriminant analysis techniques. The study relies on primary data collected manually from a diverse sample of respondents. Through factor analysis, underlying dimensions influencing consumer attitudes are explored, providing insights into the factors driving perceptions of BRTS networks. Furthermore, discriminant analysis is employed to classify consumers based on their attitudes towards BRTS networks, facilitating a deeper understanding of the determinants of favourable and unfavourable perceptions. The findings of this study contribute to the literature on public transportation and urban mobility, offering valuable implications for policymakers, transit authorities and urban planners aiming to enhance the acceptance and effectiveness of BRTS systems.

Vernacular architecture is mainly known for the use of local resources and technology of the region itself. Vernacular architecture being local, always supports the natural need of the environment with very less carbon footprint making the environment of the hill town calm. But today due to rapid urbanization and a drift towards modern resources, vernacular architecture is losing its identity. This loss is activating the zones which are already highly prone to various natural disasters and making the disaster occurrence frequent. The study area for this paper- Dharamshala, H.P. India is witnessing the shift from traditional development towards modern and quick development. Due to this, the excavations are increasing therefore the disaster-prone zones of Dharmshala are getting activated. Dharamshala being in zone 5 of seismic zones, is continuously witnessing earthquakes of various magnitudes. This paper aims to focus the switch back of modern construction to vernacular architecture (earthquake resistant), to have better and safe development.

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is a crucial aspect of maintaining the integrity and safety of civil infrastructure, such as buildings, bridges, and highways. In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a powerful technology for enhancing SHM by enabling real-time, remote monitoring of infrastructure health. The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in SHM has provided new opportunities for real-time and continuous monitoring of structures. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in IoT- based SHM, including the underlying technologies, the various IoT sensors and systems used for monitoring, and the challenges and opportunities associated with this approach. The paper also discusses several case studies that highlight the benefits of IoT-based SHM and the potential for future research in this field.

This study critically analyses the financial health of energy sector UPPCL and non-energy sector UPSRTC, two important service sector public enterprises of Uttar Pradesh. The main objective of this study is to analyse and compare the financial performance of UPPCL and UPSRTC. This study adopts descriptive and analytical research design to conduct the study. Financial data related to UPPCL is collected through form its financial statements available on its website while the financial reports of UPSRTC were obtained from Luckow regional office of UPSRTC. This study employed the financial ratios of profitability, efficiency, long-term solvency and short-term liquidity. The findings indicate that the two service sector firms differ significantly in their financial performance. The results bring to forth that in the considered period UPPCL is profitable, efficient, solvent and long-term and not has enough liquidity for short term obligations. Whereas, UPSRTC is in losses, more efficient, insolvent and long-term and having enough liquidity for short term obligations. The major limitations of the study is availability and of data and its scope in terms of analysis of two PSEs in UP. The future researchers may expand the scope of the research both in terms of data and number of PSEs from various sectors and state.
