 Abstract

Sanskrit has served as the foundational language of India's classical knowledge systems, preserving centuries of philosophical, literary, artistic, and scientific traditions. In the field of Indian classical dance, particularly Kuchipudi, Sanskrit occupies a central position as the language of the Natya Shastra by Bharata Muni and the Abhinaya Darpana by Nandikeswara, two seminal treatises that continue to shape dance pedagogy, performance aesthetics, and artistic interpretation. Despite the enduring significance of these texts, contemporary institutional dance education often places greater emphasis on practical training than on developing linguistic competence in Sanskrit. Consequently, many students learn theoretical concepts through translations, limiting their ability to interpret original slokas, comprehend technical terminology, and appreciate the philosophical depth of classical dance. This paper examines the need to integrate Sanskrit into the Kuchipudi curriculum as a pedagogical tool for strengthening theoretical understanding, enriching performance practice, and preserving India's cultural heritage. Adopting a qualitative and descriptive approach, the study draws upon classical treatises, contemporary literature on dance education, curriculum studies, and the principles of the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) framework. It explores the pedagogical relationship between Sanskrit and Kuchipudi, identifies existing curricular gaps, and proposes a structured framework for incorporating foundational Sanskrit learning into dance education. The study argues that Sanskrit proficiency enables students to engage directly with primary sources, fosters authentic interpretation of rasa, bhava, abhinaya, and hasta terminology, and strengthens the connection between theory and practice. Integrating Sanskrit into Kuchipudi education also contributes to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage by ensuring that the knowledge embedded in classical texts is transmitted accurately to future generations. The paper concludes with recommendations for curriculum developers, universities, and dance institutions to adopt interdisciplinary approaches that reinforce both academic excellence and cultural continuity.

 Abstract

AIM: The aim of the study is enhancing eye contact for children with autism spectrum disorder using puppets. METHOD: A quasi-experimental single-group pre-post study was conducted among 20 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) aged 5-10 years attending Sumathy Occupational Therapy Centre, Cuddalore. Participants were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Baseline eye contact was assessed using the Eye Contact Avoidance Scale (ECAS). A puppet-based occupational therapy intervention focusing on improving eye contact and social interaction was provided for 20 minutes per session, three times per week for 12 weeks (36 sessions). Following the intervention, eye contact was reassessed using the ECAS, and pre- and post-intervention scores were statistically analysed to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. RESULT: The study was conducted to improve eye contact in children with autism spectrum disorder. The pre-test and post test scores have been calculated and performed paired 't' tests for the collected data. The bar graph represents the mean value of pre and post. Paired 't' test was used to compare the pre-test and post - test values of participants with eye contact avoidance according to the score in 'EYE CONTACT AVOIDANCE SCALE' This showed that there was a significant improvement in post score compared to pre score resulting in improvement in eye contact (P value<0.005). CONCLUSION: From this study, it is concluded that using puppets as a therapeutic tool, has significantly enhanced eye contact in children with autism spectrum disorder. This method combines the appeal of play with the therapeutic goals of improving social skills and communication skills, offering a creative and effective approach to supporting children in their developmental journey.  Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital technologies has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of regional-language journalism in India. Kannada news media, with its rich journalistic tradition and significant readership, has undergone a major transformation through the adoption of digital platforms, mobile journalism, social media, multimedia storytelling, artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven editorial practices. While these technological advancements have enhanced the speed, accessibility, and audience engagement of news dissemination, they have also introduced critical challenges, including declining print circulation, misinformation, digital monetization issues, algorithmic dependence, cybersecurity concerns, and ethical dilemmas. This review paper critically examines the digital transformation of Kannada news media by synthesizing recent scholarly literature, industry reports, and contemporary developments in digital journalism. The study explores the technological, organizational, professional, and economic dimensions of this transformation, with particular emphasis on AI-enabled journalism, changing audience news consumption patterns, newsroom convergence, and the sustainability of regional-language media. It further identifies the opportunities created by digital innovation, such as enhanced audience participation, subscription-based business models, multimedia content production, and data-informed editorial decision-making. The review highlights that the long-term sustainability of Kannada digital journalism depends not only on technological adoption but also on maintaining editorial independence, journalistic ethics, public trust, and diversified revenue models. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on regional digital journalism by providing a comprehensive perspective on the challenges, opportunities, and future directions of Kannada news media. The findings offer valuable insights for journalists, media organizations, researchers, policymakers, and journalism educators seeking to strengthen regional-language journalism in the rapidly evolving digital communication environment.

 Abstract

The US-Iran conflict, particularly the 2026 Hormuz War and its aftermath, has presented one of the most significant foreign policy tests for India in the post-Cold War era. This paper critically examines India's diplomatic position toward the US-Iran conflict, analyzing the tension between New Delhi's professed commitment to strategic autonomy and its growing alignment with the United States and Israel. Through a qualitative analysis of official statements, diplomatic actions, scholarly literature, and policy reports, this research argues that India's response to the conflict reveals a fundamental contradiction: while publicly maintaining a discourse of multi-alignment and strategic autonomy, India's actual diplomatic posture has demonstrated a discernible tilt toward the US-Israel axis, with significant costs for its credibility, regional influence, and long-term strategic interests. The paper develops a conceptual framework--the Strategic Autonomy-Actual Alignment Paradox--to explain this disconnect and assesses its implications for India's foreign policy in an increasingly polarized world order.

 Abstract

Abstract Euthanasia -the deliberate ending of a person's life to relieve suffering -remains one of the most doctrinally unsettled areas of Indian constitutional law. In the continued absence of dedicated legislation, the contours of the right to die have been shaped almost entirely through a sequence of Supreme Court decisions stretching from P. Rathinam v. Union of India in 1994 to Harish Rana v. Union of India in 2026. This paper traces that judicial trajectory, examines the constitutional reasoning underlying the recognition of passive euthanasia and the living will, and evaluates the procedural reforms introduced by the 2023 modification of the Common Cause guidelines. It argues that Indian judicial trends reveal a cautious, incremental expansion of the right to die with dignity, marked by a persistent unwillingness to permit active euthanasia and a growing recognition that excessive procedural safeguards can themselves defeat the very dignity interest that Article 21 protects.

 Abstract

Occupational stress has become one of the most significant challenges affecting police personnel due to the demanding nature of their profession. Police officers are routinely exposed to operational hazards, traumatic incidents, long working hours, organizational pressures, public scrutiny, and role- related conflicts, all of which contribute to elevated levels of stress and psychological strain. This paper reviews the existing literature on occupational stress among police personnel with the objective of identifying the major sources of stress, examining its impact on individual well-being and organizational performance, and highlighting effective stress management strategies. The review draws on national and international studies published in peer-reviewed journals and reports, revealing that both operational factors, such as exposure to violence and critical incidents, and organizational factors, including excessive workload, inadequate staffing, lack of supervisory support, shift work, and limited career advancement opportunities, significantly influence stress levels among police personnel. The literature further indicates that prolonged occupational stress is associated with adverse outcomes such as burnout, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, cardiovascular problems, reduced job satisfaction, absenteeism, impaired decision-making, and decreased organizational effectiveness. The review also emphasizes the importance of comprehensive interventions, including organizational reforms, mental health support services, resilience training, stress management programs, and supportive leadership, in mitigating occupational stress. Despite substantial research in this field, gaps remain regarding longitudinal evidence and context-specific studies, particularly in developing countries. The paper concludes that addressing occupational stress requires a multidimensional approach that integrates organizational policy changes with individual coping strategies to enhance the health, well-being, and professional effectiveness of police personnel.
