Savings and investment play a vital role in the economic well-being of households as well as in the overall development of a nation. For rural households, effective saving and investment decisions are particularly important, as they help in managing income uncertainties, meeting future financial needs, and improving living standards. However, despite the availability of various savings and investment avenues, the level of awareness and participation among rural households often remains limited. This study aims to examine the extent of financial awareness among rural household. The research focuses on understanding the level of knowledge related to traditional and modern investment options, and the sources of financial information available to rural households. The data has been collected through structured questionnaire and analysed. The research methodology employed in this study includes the Percentage analysis, Garrett ranking and Chi-square test. The study revealed that the most rural households possess limited awareness of diversified investment modes and predominantly prefer traditional and low-risk savings instruments such as bank deposits, gold, and post office schemes. Awareness and participation in modern financial instruments like mutual funds, shares, insurance, and commodity markets are relatively low due to inadequate financial literacy and limited access to professional financial guidance. The study concludes that insufficient awareness and financial literacy hinder the effective mobilization and diversification of rural savings. It emphasizes the need for structured financial education programs, increased awareness of government schemes, and improved access to financial institutions to enhance informed decision-making.

As a social institution, libraries have also responsibilities towards environment. Like other fields of the society, libraries also have to take some green initiatives, to protect the environment from its severe deterioration. Green library is an environmentally conscious library that minimizes negative impact on environment and maximizes use of renewable resources. This paper tries to elaborate some efforts that can be taken for greening the library, such as greening the library building, greening the library collection, greening the library services, greening the library practices and greening the library with green ICT. Green initiatives taken by some of the Indian academic libraries are discussed here. Challenges faced by the libraries to transform them into green libraries are also discussed here.

This paper undertakes a comparative philosophical examination of Friedrich Nietzsche's project of the "revaluation of all values" (Umwertung aller Werte) and Advaita Vedanta's transcendence of the papa-punya (merit-demerit) framework. Although these traditions emerge from distinct intellectual and cultural contexts--nineteenth-century European philosophy and classical Indian metaphysics--both critically interrogate conventional morality as a system of psychological and existential constraint. Nietzsche's genealogical analysis reveals moral dualism as an expression of ressentiment that suppresses life-affirming instincts, whereas Advaita Vedanta interprets attachment to papa and punya as karmic bondage that perpetuates samsara. Through textual interpretation and comparative analysis, the study demonstrates that both traditions identify moral accounting as a mechanism that conditions consciousness through fear, guilt, and deferred reward. However, their solutions diverge fundamentally. Nietzsche's revaluation seeks the creative affirmation of finite existence through will to power and amor fati, while Advaita Vedanta directs the aspirant toward non-dual realization and liberation through self-knowledge. By examining these convergences and divergences, the paper clarifies two contrasting post-moral trajectories: intensified engagement with becoming versus transcendence into non-dual being. The study contributes to comparative philosophy by offering a structured analysis of value-dismantling projects and their implications for contemporary ethical thought.

This study investigates the seismic safety of high-rise reinforced cement concrete (RCC) buildings, specifically focusing on the soft storey irregularity often caused by open ground floors for vehicle parking. A G+10 building is analysed using STAAD.Pro software across India's two seismic zones (II and III) to evaluate performance under earthquake loads. By introducing soft storeys at various levels, the research compares key parameters like storey drift, lateral displacement, and base shear. The findings identify the most critical soft storey positions and highest vulnerability zones while benchmarking deviations. Ultimately, this comparative analysis aims to recommend improved design practices to enhance earthquake resistance and structural stability in multi-storey buildings facing potential seismic risks.

Gender inequality is a persistent global problem that impacts various areas of human life, including social, economic, political, and cultural aspects. Despite international promises and national reforms, women and gender minorities still face gaps in education, employment, and health, access to technology, decision-making, and safety. This paper explores the nature of gender inequality, traces its historical and structural causes, reviews important scholarly work, and examines how the Sustainable Development Goals--particularly SDG 5--promote equality. The study also presents a set of strategic actions, including legal reforms, economic empowerment, gender-responsive budgeting, changing social norms, and data-driven policymaking, to create a fairer world.

Abstract Oral storytelling has always been an integral part of any culture. Storytelling tradition precedes written literature. Stories more than a medium of entertainment, serve to unite the communities and inculcate values, transmit knowledge, survival strategies across generations. Oral storytelling tradition in India traces back to the era of Vedic period. The Vedas too incorporated mythological tales, hymns and mythological discourses. The epics were also narrated orally before they were scripted. Storytelling has the extraordinary ability to take the listener to a world of thoughts, fantasies, myths, and stories by igniting his imagination through spoken language. Orality describes the manner in which people verbally communicate with one another. The foundation of oral tradition and verbality is communality, solidarity, and a focus on the sacred. Literary texts have also evolved from this oral tradition. The impact of orality is also apparent on many Indian narratives. Sarah Joseph is a Malayalam writer and social activist. She has infused the tradition of storytelling in her novel Gift in Green. Some of these stories are rooted in the indigenous soil and some of them are derived from myths and legends. The present paper proposes to analyse these stories from an epistemological and stylistic perspective and evaluate their contribution to the society.

Decentralization in India, institutionalized through the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1992, represents a milestone in democratizing governance and empowering local institutions. It mandates the devolution of powers, functions, and resources to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) across three tiers--village, intermediate, and district--under Articles 243 to 243 O. This paper examines the present status of decentralization and citizen participation by analysing data from the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) "Status of Devolution to Panchayats in States" (2025) and related studies such as the Devolution Report (CRMI India, 2024) and NIAS-HSS (2024) Policy Brief. Using a qualitative, document-based approach, the paper evaluates six key dimensions of the Devolution Index: Framework, Functions, Finances, Functionaries, Capacity Enhancement, and Accountability. These reflect both de jure (legal) and de facto (practical) aspects of decentralization. The findings show that states such as Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu perform strongly in composite scores, while Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh trail moderately. Kerala leads in finances and accountability, whereas Tamil Nadu excels in capacity enhancement. However, the persistence of parallel administrative bodies, weak district planning mechanisms, and bureaucratic delays continues to limit the autonomy of PRIs and the effectiveness of Gram Sabhas. The paper argues that fiscal devolution and institutional capacity are the strongest predictors of citizen participation. It further discusses emerging innovations such as the SVAMITVA Scheme and e-Gram Swaraj Portal, which combine technology and governance to enhance transparency, property taxation, and revenue generation. The study concludes that the next phase of decentralization must merge technological transparency, fiscal empowerment, and civic participation to realize the constitutional promise of participatory self-governance.

Outer space is a harsh environment harboring multiple forms of stress like cosmic radiation, space vacuum, extreme temperature and pressure, UV radiations, and altered gravity. Earth's atmosphere has several layers that expose microbial and terrestrial life to harsh external environments. In order to study the limits of survival of microbial life in extremes, it is imperative to study the response of microorganisms to space-related stress. The present chapter summarizes the various balloon and flight experiments performed to investigate the presence and response of microbial life in space. Studying microbial life in space also helps predict the plausible survival and endurance of microbial travel between planets, crucial to lithopanspermia theories and planetary protection.
