 Abstract

A Gram (+) bacterium Lactobacillus species MTCC 10093 produce during their growth, substances of protein structure (either proteins or polypeptides) owning antimicrobial activities, called bacteriocins. Although bacteriocins could be considered as antibiotics, they are not. The major difference between bacteriocins and antibiotics is that bacteriocins curb their activity to strains of species related to the producing species and particularly to strains of the same species, antibiotics on the other hand have a wider activity spectrum and even if their activity is restricted this does not show any preferential effect on closely related strains. In addition, bacteriocins are ribosomally synthesized and produced during the primary phase of growth, though antibiotics are usually secondary metabolites. Among the Gram (+) bacteria, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) especially, Lactobacilli have gained particular attention nowadays, due to the production of bacteriocins. These substances can be applied in the food industry as natural preservatives. The use of LAB and of their metabolic products is generally considered as safe (GRAS, Grade One). The application of the produced antimicrobial compounds as a natural barrier against pathogens and food spoilage caused by bacterial agents has been proven to be efficient. Nisin is the only bacteriocin that has been officially employed in the food industry and its use has been approved worldwide. Bacteriocins can be applied on a purified or on a crude form or through the use of a product previously fermented with a bacteriocin producing strain as an ingredient in food processing or incorporated through a bacteriocin producing strain (starter culture).

 Abstract

According to the Holy Quran, mans spirit has a meta-historical essence and it has been conceived by the Quran as the Divine breath enshrined within the material existence of man. Spirit being the divine element within the man, is capable of experiencing and interiorizing the divine noumenon within the entire cosmic phenomena including mans own being. This insight into the divine signs both inward and outward is a clear example of the Quranic tendency towards interiorizing the mystical experiences within the recesses of mans inner self. Quranic concept of spirituality does not believe in the hyper-mystical tendencies like the ones expounded in neo-platonic or non-Semitic traditions, but it takes lead even from the material world and sees each and every cosmic phenomenon as a definitive sign of Divine creative wisdom and thus urges man to pass on from material towards the spiritual. By recognizing the divine creative principle in the outer cosmos and within mans inner self, mans predilections are directed by the Quran towards the realization of the absolute Divine truth-the truth which can neither be analyzed nor synthesized but experienced at a deeper intuitive level. The current study will try to see that how Quran wants a believer to gather the signs of Divine creative wisdom both within his own spirit and within the extended cosmos, and how it blends both the streams of exoteric and esoteric experiences towards a deeper realization of the absolute Divine truth, that there is no god but God. It will also be tryst towards showcasing the fact that religion is not a merely a mode of denominational learning or a mere intellectual discourse, but it has to be lived by man and realized by the dint of entire being and existence.

 Abstract

The present investigation deals with pond water quality of Darwa village of Isuapur block at saran District. The pond water parameters such as temperature, pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, sulphate, c, iron, chloride and fluoride were estimated in the samples to evaluate their quality. The data of physico- chemical parameters are compared with WHO (1992) and IS: 10500 standards for drinking water. Our result revealed that concentration of DO, BOD, Total hardness, Calcium, magnesium, sulphate, turbidity, alkalinity, phosphate, iron and chloride are within permissible limits and Iron, phosphate are negligible in this pond . The concentration of from 20 mg/l to 60 mg/L which is higher the permissible limit of WHO health based guide line values. The concentrations of nitrate above 40mg/L cause Blue diseases in infants (Sharma, 1997). The higher concentration of nitrate needs proper treatment before the use for drinking purposes and irrigation purposes. Finally it can be suggested that an intensive study may be carried out before the domestic consumption.

 Abstract

BACKGROUND: Neonatal sepsis is the leading cause of newborn mortality and morbidity worldwide. To combat the problem it should be diagnosed promptly and treated adequately. OBJECTIVES: to look for the correlation of C reactive protein and leucopenia in blood culture proven sepsis cases and culture negative suspected sepsis babies METHOD: The study was conducted in one of the busiest hospitals of Jorhat, Assam. It is a hospital based case-control observational study. Cases were neonates with bacterial blood culture positive and controls were gestational age matched babies with suspected sepsis having negative blood culture. CRP, total count reports were studied. Data was analysed statistically using SPSS.16 RESULTS: Total 602 blood cultures were sent during the study period out of which 46(7.6%) were bacterial culture positive[ 29 ( 63%) were males and 17 (37%) were females]. Early Onset sepsis were 27(59%) and 19 (41%) were Late onset sepsis were 19 (41%). CRP(p=0.005) and leucopenia(p=0.036) had significant correlation with culture positive sepsis. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of CRP was 74%, 54% , 61% and 68% respectively and that of leucopenia was 9%,100% , 100% and 53% respectively. Mean CRP was 11.28 mg/dl and mean white-cell count was 12,175/mm in culture positive sepsis. CONCLUSION: CRP and leucopenia has significant correlation with culture positive sepsis. Leucopenia was associated with less number of culture positive cases but its specificity and positive predictive value were very high. Leucopenia was associated more with early onset sepsis. These diagnostic markers can be used in early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis and can help in deciding the use of antibiotics in suspected cases and in high risk cases. However, clinical diagnosis of sepsis is also very important and should always be considered in deciding the management of neonatal sepsis.

 Abstract

This study aims to bring about the pernicious outcomes of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019. It intends to dispense the facts and statements on different significant aspects like economy, employment, foreign relations and international trade. It compares the economic condition of the country preceding and following the introduction of the law. This study is an attempt to explore the relationship between religious intolerance and the overall development of the country. Using the existing established links from different studies conducted by researchers, economists and financial analysts, between the economy of a country and such laws based on religious grounds, it tries to analyze and analogize its outcomes concerning India. It explains how CAA can take India on an expedition to its past in terms of financial stability. This research proposes to state the social conflict and the obstacles that the country is experiencing as a consequence of the newly established law.

 Abstract

Let N be a near ring. An additive mapping d : N ?? N is said to be a derivation on N if d(xy) = xd(y) + d(x)y for all x,y ? N or equivalently d(xy) = d(x)y + xd(y) for all x,y ? N. The purpose of the present paper is to prove some theorems in the setting of a semigroup ideal of a 3-prime near ring admitting a derivation, thereby extending some identities on derivations.

 Abstract

The scattered islands of the Indian Ocean are small Malagasy islands located off Madagascar administered by France for over a century, they are now integrated within the French Southern and Antarctic Territories. There are five of them: Europa Island, Bassas-da-India Island, Juan-de-Nova Island, the Glorious Islands, made up of Grande Glorieuse Island and Lys Island, and finally Tromelin Island, the only one located outside the Mozambique Channel and they are called "ocean sanctuaries of primitive nature", with a remarkable terrestrial and marine biological heritage. A bundle of evidence shows that the islets claimed by the successive governments of Madagascar from 1972 were Malagasy state territories and more precisely dependencies of the Sovereign Kingdom of Madagascar until its annexation by France, August 6 1896. Sovereignty over the Scattered Islands has poisoned Franco-Malagasy relations since the independence of Madagascar on June 26, 1960, the date when France granted it independence. With independence, French sovereignty was challenged by Madagascar, Mauritius and the Comoros. These claims, which have been attenuated for a number of years, have been gaining momentum recently, presumably for economic reasons. The Exclusive Economic Zones (ZEE) granted by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), in fact give hope for significant hydrocarbon resources in the Mozambique Channel.
